Andy Wilson
has been a qualified Club Coach for many years. He has a
very broad knowledge of swimming having competed as an age group swimmer,
elite swimmer, open water swimmer and water polo player. For the past 40
years he has been involved in coaching and teaching as well as being an
official, an administrator and a masters swimmer. He has a wide knowledge
of international Masters Meets competing at European and World events
around the globe.
Andy is a strong supporter of long course meets in the
district as far back as 1995 and is still pursuing the idea through the
district. It is fair to say that Andy Wilson has been involved with some
aspect of all major Masters Events in Great Britain.
Amongst his many contributions is the drafting of the
programme of events, which is always an item for discussion and
contention. Andy is well aware that you can't please everyone but he
always manages to come up with a balanced programme.
He became ASA Masters Administrator in 2003 and those who
understand the intricacies of Masters swimming will recognise the amount
of work he does and the hours he puts in are above and beyond his
specified duties.
